just write

By: Tony

Greetings world!

I haven’t really written anything on here in quite some time. Honestly I don’t even know what I’m going to write about I just felt like writing something. I just know I want to write something different than the usual show plug, good news announcement, band progress report, etc…

I think there’s a lesson in that alone. That lesson being, writing even when you don’t have anything specific to write about. Oftentimes as a writer, I find myself waiting for this amazing concept or this themed blog or this super punch-line and metaphor filled song. But then days and weeks go by when I don’t write.

I think when examining music there is no denying that music has a way when done right of just getting inside us and stirring us up to some kind of thought process or string of emotions. It happens almost effortlessly. I find this is even more the case when something feels like it was created straight from the heart.

The truth of the matter is in life we don’t ALWAYS have to wait for the words. We don’t always have to mask everything in cleverness and neatly wrapped word packaging. Sometimes we just have to write. We just have to let the true and honest expression of our hearts speak, and I think people are relieved some times and even encouraged to find something like that because it’s simply REAL in a world where much is all show, and plastic. I think deep down we long for the genuine.

So if you’re a creator or gifted person of any kind, sometimes you just have to walk up to the blank canvas and start painting. You don’t always need a plan, but you do need to express, and this gifting you have shouldn’t be reserved for only times when the muse strikes, nope a lot of times what comes from your heart is the ART.

I didn’t know what I wanted to write today, but I wrote and I’m glad I did. I waste a lot of time truthfully, planning out every detail of my life and getting caught in the routine. I think this is a time where I just have to move and live life, rather than letting life happen to me.

On that note friends, as always my hope is that you are experiencing abundant fulfilling life. If things are rough and that’s not the case, my prayer is that would become your reality. Actually let it be the reality for us all. So be well, be safe, love people selflessly, and live big, LIVE CAPSLOCK!

After a good meeting with a good friend, me and Tony, my other good friend, took a listen to a good album we were a part of a good 5 years ago. Needless to say, we realized just how good it was today and wanted to share a bit of it with the rest of you who might not have had the good opportunity to have heard it in it’s heyday. Here goes, “Influence” from the 2005 UI Family release, “Contact”. Enjoy! (Shout out to my brother Esohel!)

Thanks to everyone who showed up and rocked out with us at the Elbo Room. We had a good time, met some new faces, and celebrated the good news of winning the “Give it Voice” Competition preliminaries to play at the Metro! Details to come but in the meantime, please enjoy photos from the event.

st. bagu, double door, crash/boom

By: Freddy
So with 2010 drawn to a close amongst fireworks and bullet shells, St. Bagu wanted to share a video with the lot of you who hadn’t had the opportunity to join us at our “Sucks to be a Grown Up, So Don’t Be” show at the Double Door in November. We had a great time that night and unveiled quite a few new songs off our forth coming full length LP. So as a double bang, here’s the video for the song, “Count to Infinity” as well as the cover art to what will be St. Bagu’s next full length album entitled, “Crash/Boom”! Enjoy!!!
