sucks to be a grown up, so don’t be

st. bagu at the double door

Weekdays suck the life out of the average adult. Routine finds us doing non-awesome things like punching in and out of monotonous work days, sitting in traffic, budgeting (YUCK!), and going to bed early to wake up and repeat the cycle. While doing so we long for the weekend… which you may miss if you blink during it.

HOWEVER, who says it has to be that way? What if we took a weekday back? What if we injected some excitement and enthusiasm and some unpredictability into our responsibility consumed life? What if for one night we who know that it Sucks To Be A Grown Up banded together and just forgot for once we had work the next day and did something different to shake things up and remind ourselves we’re ALIVE?

So let’s join together fellow sufferers of the mundane, and let’s overcome together. We will begin with a Tuesday night… Tuesday, November 30th, 2010. On that night and through the next morning we will break the cycle, and break night as a community. Oh and we likely will have to work the next day, and we may have to IV the coffee through our veins to keep awake, but we will be going through it together and knowing that we just stuck it to adulthood the night before and it was worth it!

The night begins at 7:30 PM when the doors open at The Double Door. Tickets for the event will be only 5 dollars!!! Following your entry, we kick things off with live music from…

Esohel – http://www.udotfam.com/
Reallionaire Jream – http://www.myspace.com/reallionairejream
Animate Objects – http://www.animate-objects.com/
St. Bagu – http://www.stbagu.com/

The Double Door portion of this celebration of life, freedom and the simpler days will wrap up around midnight. From then on we are free to continue our quest to break night and the cycle. We are also open to ideas, so feel free to share. Prizes will be available to those who fight the monotony the hardest and make it through the night with us! Details are still developing, so stay tuned!

Now if you just want to check out the Double Door show alone that is completely acceptable. WE WANT YOU THERE! Breaking night is not a requirement to attend by any means. But… for those of you who are on the fence and are sick of the same ol’ same ol’. Consider it. The decision is yours, yep it Sucks To Be A Grown Up, So Don’t Be!

Hello kind contributors to civilization! It is my hope this update finds you well and thriving. Myself and the rest of the guys in St. Bagu have been staying occupied and using every bit of our extra time to keep things moving in regards to our mission. We have seen some encouraging progress over the last couple months, and will continue pressing as always to achieve something greater than just financial success and fame. That said however, if you would like to contribute to the Get St. Bagu To Be Full Time St. Bagu Fund, you are more than welcome, HA! No but seriously.

Here’s an exciting piece of news, we are making some great strides in the creation of our first full length album. We debuted one of the core songs from the LP at a youth lock-in event this past Friday. If your taste is anything like that audience’s taste, you might just fall in love with the new record. Tonight I’ll be joining the other dudes to continue pushing the LP towards completion, which could be a couple more months, but hey it’s moving right? I even saw the album cover today! Oh and its title will be announced soon.

Have you checked out the video for “You Look Nice” featuring footage from our Shanghai trip? Well it was put together by St. Bagu’s own Freddy Bustamante and can be viewed here… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNhUERurcyc

We’ve got some shows coming up as well. As always our events page will be up to date with them. But in case you have an event page phobia here’s two dates for you… Friday November 12th catch us live at the Abbey Pub for a Chicago Hip Hop Showcase of artists and producers called Got the City S.E.W.N 2. Visit the facebook event page here and get your RSVP on… http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=103119003087329

Following that event, we have a big one. If you are going to attend any 1 St. Bagu show this month, we need you to come out on November 30th to see us at the Double Door. Tickets will be only 5 dollars! We will be playing some new material from the new album, and promise an amazing show. Are you in? More details to come soon.

That’s pretty much all the news I have for all of you out there in cyberspace. I do have a request though… if you have not yet bought the “Lines” EP, please do so. I have been told it cures sadness. And who wants to be sad? Get it on iTunes, amazon.com, or http://www.stbagu.bandcamp.com digitally. If you love your music in CD format with accompanying case, take your happy self to a show and shake my hand then purchase one.

As always friends, we appreciate your support! If you haven’t, add us or “like” us on facebook. If you believe in the cause, tell your friends and family about St. Bagu. Until next time, LIVE BIG LIVE CAPSLOCK!
